The Village Pilates, Vacaville
A Welcoming studio for all ages
Teresa Gianquento
Instructor
I’m Teresa, a Balanced Body Comprehensively Certified Pilates Instructor with a sharp eye for form and a deep love for the mind-body connection. My classes are all about that mind body magic. I’ll cue you, but I’ll also coach you into actually feeling the fire. You’ll walk out stronger, more confident, and deeply connected to what your body can do.
Shannon VanderZwaag
Studio owner, Instructor & Integrative Health Coach
Founder of The Village Pilates, Vacaville Hi, I’m Shannon, and before I became a Pilates instructor, I spent 29 years in the United States Air Force, where I developed a deep respect for discipline, precision, and the responsibility of showing up fully for others. That experience shaped not only my perspective but also my body, which has been through birth injuries, years of physical demand, and the life transitions of divorce, menopause, and beginning again in my 50s. Pilates came into my life 13 years ago during one of those pivotal seasons and has remained a constant ever since. What began as a physical practice evolved into something far more integrative, supporting not only strength and recovery but also resilience, regulation, and personal transformation. I am a comprehensively certified Pilates instructor through Balanced Body, with additional training in prenatal Pilates. I hold a Master of Arts in Integrative Health Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Health with an emphasis in trauma. My background also includes certifications in integrative health and wellness coaching, patient navigation, and guided imagery. As a trauma-educated practitioner, I approach movement with the understanding that each body carries lived experience and that the quality of presence, safety, and attunement in a space is as important as the movement itself. My work focuses on supporting women through menopause and the complex shifts in strength, energy, body composition, and identity that accompany this transition. I also enjoy working with men across the lifespan and with athletes who are often surprised by the depth, control, and precision Pilates requires. The Village was created from this foundation. It is a response to what I believe is missing in many wellness spaces: a model that truly supports the practitioners delivering care. When instructors are resourced, valued, and able to sustain their work, the quality of care deepens. This studio is a collective where practitioners can thrive, and clients are met with skill, presence, and intention.
Kim
Kimberly Colton
Administrative Manager
Kim, our wonderful behind-the-scenes administrator. Kim is truly one of a kind. At first, she may seem meek and mild, but give her an opportunity and she will shine! Kim graduated with a BA in Architecture. In her youth, she was a dancer, and she is still an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys traveling. She is a whiz with computers and art, and an all-around amazing aunt, sister, and daughter. Kim helps keep so many important details moving smoothly at The Village. She supports website maintenance, checks in clients when one of us forgets, creates webpages, and helps bring so many ideas to life. We are incredibly grateful for all she does.
